RIDGEFIELD, CT — The National Weather Service has issued an Air Quality Alert for the area for Wednesday. Conditions are expected to be unhealthy for sensitive groups which includes babies, the elderly,those with allergies and asthma and anyone with a compromised immune system.
The U. S. Environmental Protection Agency's Air Quality Index for rating air quality is based on the National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS). The Air Quality Alert is in effect from 11 a.m. on Wednesday until 11 p.m. on Wednesday night. Ozone within the region may approach or exceed unhealthy standards for sensitive groups.
