Ridgefield To Host Sixth Annual Pride In The Park Celebration

Ridgefield Pride in the Park returns June 1 with live music, family fun, crafts, games, and more community events throughout the month.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — Ridgefield will hold its sixth annual Pride in the Park celebration on Sun., June 1, from noon to 3 p.m. at Ballard Park, with a community parade around the park beginning at 1 p.m. The free, family-friendly event will include live performances, crafts, games, and informational exhibits in celebration of the town’s LGBTQ+ community.

The afternoon will feature performances from the Ridgefield Chorale, School of Rock, and Kai Fozouni. Attendees can enjoy activities such as face painting, balloon animals, poetry writing, martial arts demonstrations, and a petting zoo, as well as free cotton candy and snacks. A DJ will entertain from the gazebo and poetry recitations will accompany stage performances. In the event of rain, activities will be moved to Yanity Gym.

Ridgefield Pride in the Park is one of several events hosted by Ridgefield CT Pride, a nonprofit established in 2019 to foster inclusivity, support, and education around LGBTQ+ issues. Other events scheduled throughout May, June, and July include a Pride Shabbat at Congregation Shir Shalom on May 30, drag performances at The Lantern on June 8, and Rainbow Family Storytime sessions each Wednesday at the Ridgefield Library starting June 11. A Ridgefield Oral History Project celebration will also take place on June 21 at the library. Deborah Ann’s Sweet Shoppe will be featuring its popular Pride Ice Cream throughout June.

Numerous local organizations will participate as exhibitors during the Pride in the Park event, including cultural institutions, advocacy groups, educational organizations, and area churches.
