Ridgefield Hosts Walking Tours To Mark 248th Battle Anniversary
Ridgefield Historical Society to present live walking tours on April 26 commemorating the 248th anniversary of the 1777 Battle of Ridgefield
RIDGEFIELD, CT — The Ridgefield Historical Society will offer guided walking tours on Saturday, April 26, to mark the 248th anniversary of the Battle of Ridgefield, a Revolutionary War skirmish that occurred on April 27, 1777.
The one-hour “living history” tours will depart at 10:30 a.m., 11 a.m., 11:30 a.m., and noon. Led by actors in period attire under the direction of Dr. Darla Shaw, each tour will feature short performances portraying historical figures such as Benedict Arnold, General Tryon, and Anna Stebbins.
The approximately one-mile route begins at the Battle of Ridgefield sign at Casagmo and concludes at the British cannonball embedded in Keeler Tavern. Stops along the east side of Main Street will offer insights into the events and people that shaped the town’s Revolutionary War history.

Space is limited and tickets are nonrefundable. Organizers anticipate a full turnout for the annual event.
