Ridgefield Planning Board Seeks Public Input On Branchville District Plan

Ridgefield P&Z to hold Zoom session on Branchville zoning updates; more input sessions planned this summer.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — The Ridgefield Planning and Zoning Commission is inviting residents to participate in a series of public input sessions as it revisits a long-term vision for a Transit-Oriented District in the Branchville area.

The first public session will take place via Zoom on June 24 at 7 p.m. Interested residents may register online here. The initiative marks a renewed effort to gather community feedback as the commission evaluates recommendations from a 2017 study that proposed zoning and infrastructure updates to support mixed-use development near the Branchville train station.

The 2017 report, developed with assistance from consulting firm FHI Studio (now IMEG), called for zoning changes to allow approximately 381 housing units and 30,000 square feet of commercial space within a new Branchville village district. The plan also included mobility and infrastructure improvements, some of which have already been completed.

Additional public sessions are expected later this summer, including an in-person event tentatively scheduled for July 19 or 20. More sessions will be added as needed. Residents may also submit comments or documents by email to pzdirector@ridgefieldct.gov for inclusion in the public record.

The commission emphasized that these sessions are not formal public hearings on a finalized proposal. Instead, they are intended to review the 2017 study’s recommendations, explain the potential implementation process, and solicit updated input in light of demographic and economic changes since the report was issued.
