Ridgefield Police Offer Citizen Academy To Strengthen Community Ties

The Ridgefield Police Department is inviting residents to gain a firsthand look at law enforcement operations.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — The Ridgefield Police Department is inviting residents to gain a firsthand look at law enforcement operations through its Citizen Police Academy, an eight-week program designed to educate participants on various aspects of police work.

The academy, set to begin March 19, 2025, will meet weekly on Wednesdays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at police headquarters, located at 76 East Ridge Road. Sessions will cover topics such as crime scene investigation, K9 unit operations, firearms, TASER use, speed enforcement, DUI enforcement, search and seizure laws, identity theft, patrol procedures, and department history.

Participants must be at least 18 years old and either live or work in Ridgefield. Residents may apply online here. Applications are also available at the Ridgefield Police Department front desk. The last day to register is March 14.
