Ridgefield Residents To Vote On $101.9M Bond Package

The bond vote in Ridgefield on Tuesday asks for $101.9 million for new public safety building, school roofs, and alternate high school.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — Residents will go to the polls next week to vote on $102 million worth of new construction and repairs of public buildings across three bonds.

The referendum will be held at Yanity Gym on Prospect Street, Tuesday, Feb. 25. Voting will be open 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The first bond for $12.3 million would pay for full or partial roof repairs and replacement at Ridgebury, Scotland and Veterans Park elementary schools; East Ridge Middle School; and Ridgefield High School. A $4 million bond would cover construction of a new home for the Alternative High School and Transition Program building, at 34 Halpin Lane. The big ticket item is an $85.6 million bond for construction and equipping of a new facility to house all the town’s public safety and emergency response operations, to be located on Old Quarry Road.

Absentee ballots for the referendum are available in the Town Clerk’s Office up until Monday, Feb. 24 at 4:30 p.m. That office will also be open Saturday, Feb. 22m from 9 a.m. to noon. Ballots must be returned to there by Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 4:30 p.m., or dropped in the ballot box outside of Town Hall by Tuesday at 8 p.m. Referendum absentee ballots cannot be mailed.
