The new school year begins in less than a few weeks. Here are dates you need to know.
RIDGEFIELD, CT — You may be thinking about how many more days you can go to the beach, but the first day of school is just around the corner. With that in mind, here are important dates for the 2016-2017 school year.
Connecticut Summer Bucket List: 13 Things to Do Before Summer Ends
- First day of school: Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016 for grades K-9; Friday, Sept. 1, 2016 for grades 10-12
- Labor Day (school closed): Monday, Sept. 5
- Professional Development (early dismissal): Friday, Sept. 30
- Rosh Hashanah (school closed): Monday, Oct. 3
- Columbus Day (school closed): Monday, Oct. 10
- Yom Kippur (school closed): Wednesday, Oct. 12
- Professional Development Day (no school): Tuesday, Nov. 8
- Veteran's Day (no school): Friday, Nov. 11
- Thanksgiving (school closed): Nov. 23-25
- Holiday Break: Friday, Dec. 23 (early dismissal)
- Winter Break: Dec. 26-Jan. 2 (school resumes Jan. 3)
