Temporary Animal Control Officer 20 hrs per week
DESCRIPTION: Responsible for providing general care and welfare to stray/impounded/lost dogs.

♦ Responsible for feeding/watering/exercising animals of shelter
♦ Responsible for cleanliness of shelter area and animal confinement areas

♦ Performance of all required A.C.O. enforcement and investigative duties: Summons, Warnings, Licensing, etc.
♦ Quarantining of dogs or other animals as required by Statue
♦ Must be available for after-hours complaints and meet required 30 minute response time to Police headquarters
♦ Must cover for A.C.O. when out and occasional weekday coverage will be required
♦ Must attend and pass all required training class as required by the Chief
♦ Must handle all incoming calls and deal with public daily
♦ Must input information into Computer Software Package
♦ Responsible for forwarding information and following up on unlicensed dogs
♦ Perform other duties as assigned
♦ Regular attendance as required by this position
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
♦ Ability to bend, lift, drag and carry dogs when necessary.
♦ Ability to deal with aggressive dogs and other animals as necessary.
♦ Some office environment with typical business equipment; basic computer skills; ability to operate keyboard and answer telephone calls; ability to interface and problem-solve with the public.
♦ Must be able to drive Town vehicle.
QUALIFICATIONS:
♦ High School graduate
♦ Experience dealing with Animals
♦ Data Entry and Work Processing skills
♦ Must pass Police Background Investigation
♦ Valid Driver’s License
♦ Successful completion of all Department-required medical examinations
