Ridgefield Superintendent Announces New Assistant Director of Special Services

A 10-year veteran of the New York City Department of Education will be joining Ridgefield Public Schools.

Dr. Karen Baldwin, Superintendent of Schools is pleased to announce that Ann Marie Cordisco will be joining the Ridgefield Public Schools as the new Assistant Director of Special Services, K-12.

Ms. Cordisco is a 10-year veteran of the New York City Department of Education where she spent seven years as a speech and language therapist and most recently has served as Assistant Principal of District 75, a school for children identified with special needs.

Ms. Cordisco impressed the search committee and the Superintendent with her breadth of experiences serving children with special needs. She has experience working as an Instructional Expectations Coach, assisting classroom teachers in learning the Core Standards, and developing instructional strategies that meet the academic and functional needs of children with disabilities. As a Speech and Language Pathologist she has extensive background working with children with autism spectrum disorders, and as a school-based leader she has been instrumental in leading efforts to build the capacity of staff to meet the needs of all learners.

Ms. Cordisco has a proven record of working in partnership with families and she communicates a passion for the betterment of all students. Ms. Cordisco’s experiences working with general education teachers, special education and related services staff, and parents, is a perfect fit for the leadership model and district culture and practices we are trying to grow in Ridgefield.

Ms. Cordisco will begin in her new role on September 6, 2016.
