Ridgefield Teen Stole Truck, Led Cops On Chase: Police

BREAKING: Police say they had to use spike strips to stop the stolen truck after it was taken from a business.

WILTON, CT — A 17-year-old from Ridgefield was arrested Wednesday after police say he stole a truck from a local business and led police on a chase after the truck was involved in a crash, according to Wilton Police. Police say the teenager stole a truck from Andy Stewart Landscaping Design at 5:30 a.m. and damaged tools in the process.

Police later responded to a crash near the Danbury Road business where the truck had left the scene. The pursuit continued until officers used spike strips to stop the truck.

The juvenile suspect was charged with five counts of larceny in the first degree, four counts of burglary in the third degree, criminal mischief, engaging police in a pursuit and evading responsibility. He also faces charges of reckless driving, driving without a license and failure to grant the right of way at a private driveway.

The teenager was released to his parents on a promise to appear.
