Ridgefield Voters Approve Funds For 2 Out Of 3 Projects
Voters in Ridgefield have voted to fund two of the three projects that were on Tuesday's referendum.
RIDGEFIELD, CT — Voters in Ridgefield have voted to fund two of the three projects that were on Tuesday's referendum.
Residents overwhelmingly approved the $12.3 million needed for repairs and replacement of school roofs by a vote of 2,680 to 506, according to official results distributed Wednesday.
Voters also gave their blessing to the nearly $4 million needed for construction of a new alternative high school and Transition Program building, 2,067 votes in favor, to 1,112 against.

But residents snapped the purse strings shut when it came to the $86 million ask for a new public safety facility. The spending was nixed by a narrow margin, 1,625 to 1,553 votes.
In a Facebook post Wednesday morning, officials from The Ridgefield Professional Firefighters promised to "continue to do [their] job with the dedication and professionalism you expect and deserve," but let it be known the results still stung:

"Our facilities are outdated, our vehicle fleet is aging, and the demands on our department continue to grow. We’ll keep doing everything we can with the resources the Town provides, but these limitations affect our ability to serve you as safely and efficiently as we should."
