Police ID Man Who Barricaded Himself In Rocky Hill Apartment Building

The man was due to appear in court Monday morning, according to police.

ROCKY HILL, CT — A man is facing multiple charges after police said he barricaded himself in an apartment building on Saturday.

Police Lt. Steve Morgan on Monday identified the suspect as Kyrell Thaxter.

Thaxter was charged Saturday with disorderly conduct, interfering with police, second-degree breach of peace, first-degree criminal mischief, second-degree reckless endangerment, risk of injury, and simple trespass.

He was held on a $200,000 bond over the weekend, and he was due to be arraigned in Superior Court in New Britain Monday morning.

On Saturday, police said they responded to a barricaded person in the area of 100 West Street, Forest Park Apartments.

Police said they had received a 911 call that morning about a domestic dispute inside an apartment there.

According to police, the barricaded individual remained inside the apartment and refused to leave when told to do so. Police evacuated the apartment building as a precaution.
