2 Arrested in Shelton DUI Stop

The man called 911 to ask for a ride home, police said.

Two people were arrested after Shelton police stopped their car for suspected drunken driving.

Amanda Rose Delibro, 21, of Shortell Drive, Ansonia, is charged with DUI and failure to drive right. Govanny Gomez, 22, of Fifth Street, Derby, is charged with interfering with an emergency call and interfering with an officer.

Police said the two sped by a police officer and were stopped at Trolley Bridge Road and River Road.

Gomez allegedly refused to hang up a cell phone call or to exit the vehicle, and later threatened to call 911 to get a ride home. He was warned not to and arrested when he did, police said.

Gomez was released on a written promise to appear in court and Delibro's bond was set at $500 for appearances in Derby Superior Court.
