IDs Of 2 Killed In Route 8 Crash In Shelton Released: State PD

The names of the two people killed in the crash was released by State Police on Saturday.

SHELTON, CT — On Saturday afternoon, state police released the names of the two people killed in a double fatal motor vehicle crash on Route 8 Thursday.

On Thursday, State Police began investigating a double fatal motor vehicle crash, reported on the Route 8 northbound on-ramp from Old Stratford Road (Exit 12) in Shelton. The involved vehicle was identified as a 2002 Honda Accord.

The vehicle occupants have been identified as: Jose Rosario, 32, of Price Street in Bridgeport and Raul Calderon, 33, of Harrison Road in North Branford, according to State Police.

"The facts and circumstances surrounding this motor vehicle accident remain under investigation," State Police officials said in a news release Saturday.

The victims were discovered at about 11:30 a.m. on Thursday off the on-ramp at Exit 12. The Honda Accord was located off the right side of the on-ramp, overturned on its roof after hitting multiple trees.

No witnesses have been identified, and state police believe that the crash likely occurred some time before Thursday.
