DERBY, CT — A new Chase bank is set to be built in Derby next year, with plans calling for a former Starbucks property to be demolished to make way for it, according to a representative for the project.

A spokesperson for Basser-Kaufman also confirmed this week to Patch the new Chase bank is set to be built at the New Haven Avenue property.

The real estate agency's website currently lists Chase as a "major tenant" at The Commons at Derby shopping center along with The Edge Fitness Clubs.

The shopping center also previously housed a Big Lots store, according to the website.

The former Starbucks building sits in the shopping center's large parking lot and is not connected to the Edge Fitness and former Big Lots buildings.

A Chase spokesperson declined to comment on the new Derby bank location, which they noted was "in the planning stages."
