Ansonia Man Accused Of Robbing Woman At Gunpoint: Stamford Police
Police say a man followed a woman across Stamford before robbing her at gunpoint in May. An arrest was made on Aug. 5.
ANSONIA, CT — An Ansonia man was arrested this week in connection with an armed robbery that occurred in Stamford in May, according to an announcement from police.
Desmond Hamilton, 26, was arrested on an active warrant out of Stamford by judicial marshals on Aug. 5 in Milford where he was appearing in court on unrelated charges, Stamford police said in a news release. Hamilton was charged with first-degree robbery.

On May 17 at approximately 2:34 a.m., Stamford police patrol units were called to the 40 block of Orange Street on a report of an armed robbery, police said.

A woman at the scene told police she was robbed at gunpoint in the driveway of her home, police said.
The suspect held a firearm to the woman’s neck and demanded her belongings, police said. After the woman complied, the suspect fled on foot westbound on Orange Street and then southbound on Lockwood Avenue.

Through an "extensive investigation" by the SPD's Bureau of Criminal Investigations Major Crimes Squad "B," detectives determined the suspect followed the woman in his vehicle from the west side of Stamford to the east side, according to police, who noted the suspect approached the woman after she exited her vehicle to go inside her home.
Police say Hamilton was identified as the suspect.
"Further investigative efforts revealed that Hamilton was also a suspect in several similar robbery incidents throughout Connecticut and has been charged in other jurisdictions for similar offenses," police said.
Hamilton was given a court-set bond of $250,000.
