Rodney Tucker, 24, of Bassett Street, Ansonia, is charged with second-degree burglary and second-degree criminal mischief.
Police said Tucker forced the back door of a Shelton home at night on June 23 and did $300 in damage in the process.
Tucker was caught hiding in the woods, police said.
His bond was set at $5,000 for an appearance in Derby Superior Court.
