The post garnered a number of comments from loyal customers lamenting the loss of The Greek's in Shelton, with many specifically noting they will miss the restaurant's clams, scallops and other fried seafood options.

The restaurant's history dates back to when Anast Kaklamanos immigrated to the United States, where he first worked at a candy store in Boston and later in restaurants and diners in New York City, according to the restaurant's website.

After serving his new country in World War II, Kaklamanos moved to Bridgeport with his wife, Theresa, and began working at a small hot dog stand.

"Customers started calling the place 'The Greek's' because the employees were all Greeks and spoke Greek," the website reads.

In 1980, Kaklamanos' son, Jim, and his son-in-law, Mickey, opened The Greek's in Milford, where they worked for over 20 years before closing the restaurant.

The Shelton restaurant opened 12 years later at 99 Bridgeport Avenue, according to the website.

The Greek's menu included items such as burgers, hot dogs, fries, sandwiches and fried seafood.
