Bronx Trio Tries to Scam TJ Maxx

Three Bronx women were arrested after using fraudulent credit cards at TJ Maxx in Shelton.

On March 6 at approximately 5:00 p.m., responded to , located at 865 Bridgeport Ave., on a report of females using fraudulent credit cards to purchase items.

Three women went to the register and made transactions with two different fraudulent credit cards purchasing approximately $530 worth of merchandise. Police observed all three women exiting the store and conducted a motor vehicle stop. Police were able to identify all three women along with two children, each less than one year of age, in the vehicle. Police were able to recover all of the merchandise.

Police arrested 30-year-old Evelyn Arias and 28-year-old Glenny Rosado, both of Bronx, NY, and charged them each with:

  • Sixth degree larceny,
  • Illegal Use of a Credit Card,
  • Credit Card Theft,
  • Receiving Goods obtained by Illegal Use of a Credit Card, and
  • Risk of Injury to a Minor.

Police also arrested 25-year-old Erika Vargas, also of Bronx, NY, and charged her with:

  • Conspiracy to Commit sixth degree larceny,
  • Conspiracy to Commit Illegal Use of a Credit Card,
  • Conspiracy to Commit Credit Card Theft,
  • Conspiracy to Commit Receiving Goods obtained by Illegal Use of a Credit Card, and
  • Risk of Injury to a Minor.

All three women posted a $25,000 bond and are scheduled to appear at Derby Court on March 20.
