Buffalo Wild Wings Planned To Open In Former Shelton Sports Bar Space: Report

A Buffalo Wild Wings is planned to open soon in the former Arooga's Grille House and Sports Bar space in Shelton.

SHELTON, CT — A franchisee is seeking permits to open a new Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant at the former Arooga's space in The Market Place plaza on Bridgeport Avenue, citing the area's good traffic levels as an enticing reason to open a new Shelton location, the Connecticut Post reports.

According to the Connecticut Post, franchisee Jack Litman said his current ambitious hope is to have the new BWW location open by the end of the year. He also said the building's interior will be completely renovated, and he expects to install 60 to 70 televisions at the new Shelton location.

BWW currently operates locations in a number of Connecticut communities, including Stamford, Milford, Danbury, North Haven, Manchester, Wethersfield, Waterbury, Southington and Windsor.

The restaurant chain is known for its large selection of wing sauces, as well as signature sports bar items like burgers, wraps, chicken sandwiches, nachos and mac and cheese.

Fans of BWW can also enjoy a selection of beers and other beverages as they cheer on their favorite sports team on dozens of TVs throughout each location.

A request for comment from Buffalo Wild Wings was not immediately returned Wednesday.

The space eyed for the new BWW location formerly housed Arooga's Grille House and Sports Bar, which suddenly closed the doors of its Shelton location for good back in February.

The closure was unexpectedly announced on the sports bar's Instagram page in a post that used a picture of a tombstone and included the caption "Goodbye Arooga's Shelton, thanks for the memories." No further information was included in the post.

The Shelton sports bar featured a large menu of shareable appetizers, salads, chicken wings, burgers and sandwiches, as well as a wide selection of cocktails, shots, beer, wine and sodas.

Just months before the closure, Fanatics Betting and Gaming launched retail and online sports betting at the Shelton location.
