Coronavirus Shelton: Four More Nursing Home Deaths Reported
Since March, Shelton has reported 229 coronavirus cases among nursing homes residents.
SHELTON, CT — Shelton reported four additional coronavirus deaths in the past week — all nursing nursing home residents — and added 27 new cases while health officials continued to encourage Valley residents to wear masks and practice social distancing.
The May 26 update from the Naugatuck Valley Health District raised Shelton's lab-confirmed coronavirus deaths to 107, though that figure does not include an additional 24 cases labeled as "Probable COVID-19 Associated Deaths." In total, 178 Valley residents have died of coronavirus.
More than 90 percent of those deaths are related to nursing home residents. In total, nursing home residents account for nearly 30 percent of the Valley's 1,500 coronavirus cases. As of May 26, Ansonia, Beacon Falls, Derby, Naugatuck, Shelton and Seymour reported a total of 444 cases in nursing homes. Around half of those cases are linked to residents in Shelton.
