Here Is The 'Best Hole-In-The-Wall Restaurant' In CT: Food Republic

DERBY, CT — A Derby bar best known for its extensive selection of chicken wing sauces and craft beers on tap has been named the "best hole-in-the-wall restaurant" in Connecticut by a popular food industry news website.

Food Republic released a list earlier this month, titled The Best Hole-In-The-Wall Restaurant In Your State, that lists a notable restaurant in each state that might be found somewhat off the beaten path.

"These hole-in-the-wall spots may not look like much, but oftentimes you can step inside and find dishes rich with flavor and history," the list, compiled by Food Republic writer Nicole Alexander, reads.

Eateries chosen for the list were based on "a mix of public opinion, notable food awards, local and national press and TV features," according to Food Republic.

For Connecticut, Food Republic singled out Derby bar and restaurant Dew Drop Inn as Connecticut's best hole-in-the-wall.

Located on North Avenue, Dew Drop Inn is most acclaimed for its chicken wings, of which the restaurant boasts a variety of over 50 dry rubs and sauces.

The large selection of wings is broken down into three categories: "basic," "not so basic" and "basically ridiculous."

Notable wing varieties include more traditional options such as BBQ, Honey Hot, Teriyaki, Lemon Pepper and Cajun, as well as inventive flavors like Taco Butter, Bruschetta, Cheesy Garlic Bread, Irish Stout Glaze and even Spicy Peanut Butter to name just a few.

In addition to wings, Dew Drop Inn customers can enjoy burgers, steaks, sandwiches, wraps and other food items, as well as an extensive list of craft beers on tap.

The list also notes that several publications have declared Dew Drop Inn to be the best wing spot in Connecticut.
