Derby To Hold September 11th Memorial Ceremony
The annual event, hosted by the Derby Fire Department, will be held this month on the Derby Green, according to the city.

DERBY, CT — The city will mark the 24th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks with a memorial ceremony scheduled to take place next week.
According to a news release provided by the city, the ceremony will be held Sept. 11 at 6 p.m. on the Derby Green, located at 105 Elizabeth Street.
Hosted by the Derby Fire Department, the annual event "is conducted to remember and honor those who died, those who served and those who carry on," according to the city.

The event will also include a short speaking program.
"In the hours and days following the attacks on our homeland, our country came together as the flames were extinguished, the dust settled, and the recoveries began," the city's release reads. "We assemble at this solemn event each year lest we forget."
