GoFundMe Campaign Raising Money For Pedestrian Struck On Route 8

SHELTON, CT — A GoFundMe campaign has raised more than $33,000 to help a Seymour man who was seriously injured in an accident on Route 8 in Shelton.

Kevin Atterberry, 40, of Seymour, was a pedestrian when he was hit on the highway by a Ford EcoSport, according to state police.

The accident remains under investigation. When it happened, police said the pedestrian was in the roadway for an “unknown reason.” Atterberry suffered life-threatening injuries in the collision, and he was rushed to St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport.

According to the GoFundMe campaign, Atterberry is in “critical condition but making good progress.”

“As he faces a long road to recovery, we want to be there for him in every way possible,” campaign organizers said.

As of Monday afternoon, the fundraiser had raised $33,728 via 307 donations. The initial fundraising goal was for $8,000.
