James “Jim or Jimmy” Michael Gantkin, 75, of Milford, Connecticut, passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 21, 2025. Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on February 8th, 1950, he was the son of the late Ned Gantkin and Florence Horwitz Gantkin of Fairfield, Connecticut.

James worked in the plumbing supply wholesale industry in Fairfield County for over 50 years, with the last 23 being at Winsupply of Shelton, where he built long-lasting friendships and earned the respect of coworkers and customers alike. He was a passionate sports fan who could quote stats from memory—especially about his beloved New York Yankees and the Jets. Jim also had a lifelong love of food, of all kinds, always eager to try something new - he was eating sushi before most people knew what it was but was only newly fond of burgers. He especially treasured time by the ocean, with Cape Cod holding a special place in his heart.
Jim is survived by his son, Scott; his daughter, Heather (Jonathan); and two beloved grandchildren. Jimmy was also survived by his brother, Ron (Cheryl); and adored nieces and nephews.

A celebration of his life will take place on Wednesday, August 20th from 2PM-5PM at Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 North Broad St., Milford, Connecticut 06460. All are welcome to join in remembering Jim.
