Larisa Nikitina-Korman, age 87 of New Haven, died peacefully on July 13, 2025 in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Ilya Korman. Born in Kharkhov, USSR on March 10, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Victor Nikolayevich Nikitin and Rebecca Moiseyevna Katz. Mrs. Nikitina-Korman was raised in Russia and earned a Master’s Degree in Library Sciences. She worked as a librarian at the Russian Institute of Theater Arts in Moscow for several years. Mrs. Nikitina-Korman went on to receive her Teacher’s Certificate in early childhood education and became a pre-school teacher. Together with her husband, she immigrated to the United States in 1991 and resided in New York City for two years. In 1993, Mrs. Nikitina-Korman moved to New Haven. A devout Orthodox Christian for many years, she was a member of the Holy Transfiguration Orthodox Church of New Haven, and Presentation of Christ in the Temple Church of Stratford. Throughout her life, Mrs. Nikitina-Korman appreciated the theater arts and classical music. She enjoyed cooking her favorite family recipes, especially “cutlety” and “pirozhki”. She will be long remembered for her steadfast faith and deep love for her family and friends. Mrs. Nikitina-Korman is survived by her devoted sons, Vadim Idelchuk and his wife Anna of Israel, and Ilya Korman and his wife Katya Ozherelyeva of Milford; and cherished grandchildren Rita Sade and Yulia Kaplan of Israel, Victor Korman of Georgia, and Andrew Korman, Maria Korman and Elizabeth Korman, all of Milford, and six great-grandsons, sons of Yulia and Rita.
Friends and family may call on Monday, July 14, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Presentation of Christ in the Temple Russian Orthodox Church, 5 Wheeler Terrace (corner of Nichols Avenue) Stratford. Panikhida will be at 7:00 PM. Divine Liturgy at 8:00 AM and Requiem Funeral Service at 10:00 AM will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, meeting directly at Presentation of Christ in the Temple Russian Orthodox Church.
