Beloved Husband, Father & Grandfather - Owner & Operator of Elite Painting
Leo “Lee” M. Poisson, Jr. age 79, beloved husband of Joanne Lota Poisson of Shelton, died peacefully on October 19, 2025 at the Stone Bridge Health and Rehab Center, Newtown, surrounded by his family. Born in Bridgeport on August 8, 1946, he was the son of the late Leo Michael Poisson Sr. and Grayce Bozza Poisson. Mr. Poisson was raised in Bridgeport and was a graduate of Bullard Havens Technical High School. He was a long-term resident of Fairfield before moving to Shelton. Mr. Poisson was first employed with the former Lota Construction Company and built fine homes in the greater Fairfield area. His entrepreneurial spirit kept him busy as the owner and operator of Elite Painting, PM Snowplowing, Sundaes By The River Ice Cream Parlor and was a seasonal fixture on the Fairfield Post Road selling Christmas Trees for many years. He enjoyed everything ocean related - boating, fishing and all types of seafood. Mr. Poisson hosted epic holiday events, especially the traditional Italian Christmas Eve Vigil Family Feast of the Seven Fishes. He will be long remembered as a loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather whose generosity knew no bounds. In addition to his wife of 57 years, he is survived by his devoted children, Leo M. Poisson III and his wife, Jody of Monroe and Denise E. Poisson Sgandurra of Monroe; a sister, Linda McPadden and her husband, John of Cheshire; cherished grandchildren, Madison Poisson, Aidan and Lukas Sgandurra, all of Monroe; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 11:00 AM in St. Joseph Church, 420 Coram Avenue, Shelton. Interment will be private.
