DERBY, CT — Derby police recently announced the retirement of a longtime police sergeant after more than 20 years with the department.

In a Facebook post Friday, police congratulated Police Sgt. John Netto on his retirement from the Derby Police Department.

According to the department, Netto was hired in February 2000 and has proudly served the Derby community for over 25 years with dedication and integrity.

"Thank you, John, for your service and sacrifice," police wrote on Facebook. "Your unwavering commitment has left a lasting impact and you will missed."

Police also wished Netto a "long, happy and healthy retirement...you've earned it!"
