Third Arrest in Violent St. Patty's Day Attack

The following arrest information was released by Detective Ben Trabka & Sergeant Kevin Ahern of the Shelton Police Department. It does not indicate convictions.

Update, April 5:

On Thursday, April 5, Shelton Police Detectives, with the assistance of the Ansonia Police Department, served an arrest warrant on 25 year old Jason Terry, of 292 Howe Ave. in Shelton in relation to the investigation of the serious assault which occurred on March 18, 2012 on Coram Ave.

Terry has been hiding from the police after an arrest warrant for him was issued. Terry was located in an apartment in Ansonia and was taken into custody without incident. Terry was charged with first degree assault and conspiracy to commit first degree assault. At this time Terry is being held on a $250,000 court-set bond at the Shelton Police lock-up. Terry is expected to be arraigned at the Derby Superior Court on Monday, April 9.

Shelton police had made a second arrest on March 27 with a warrant for 18 year old Andrew O’Connell of 528 Wheelers Farm Rd. in Orange. O’Connell was charged with first degree assault and conspiracy to commit first degree assault. O’Connell was held on a $250,000 court-set bond.

Although no more arrests are expected, police detectives continue to investigate this case.

On March 24, the arrested 23-year-old Daniel Zeleznik of 187 Howe Ave. for taking part in a violent attack of a 32-year-old male on St. Patrick’s Day. 

The victim was found by passerbies shortly after midnight, unconscious and bleeding heavily from the face and head at the intersection of Coram Avenue and Kneen Street. Detectives conducted numerous interviews during the week and on Saturday arrested Zeleznik on a warrant at his residence without incident. 

Zeleznik was arrested on the charges of first degree assault and conspiracy to commit first degree assault.  Zeleznik posted a $100,000 bond. The investigation is continuing.

The victim in the assault was in critical condition for two days in Bridgeport Hospital. The victim suffered severe head and facial injuries and will require plastic surgery to correct.

Zeleznik is due in Derby Superior Court on April 9. Detectives are continuing their investigation. Anyone with information related to this assault are asked to call Shelton Police at 203-924-1544.
