"Comment by Sid Santosh in Facebook:
All we know poor immigrant workers especially from Nepal, Sri Lanka and India are treated inhumanly in most of the gulf countries.
However, the Guardian Newspaper has reported lately that Qatar, a gulf nation who is hosting the FIFA world cup 2022 is treating its immigrant workers unfairly in every aspect. Let all the international community stand together and pressure Qatar to abolish its controversial 'kafala' system which limits employees to one employer," and also "set a minimum rate of pay".
It is really shame to know that Qatar is one of the richest gulf nation according to GDP index, however, it pays one of the lowest pay rate to immigrant workers. It is a shame that a nation which has more immigrants than its citizen treats immigrants so unfairly and inhumanly.
Qatar should not be allowed to host the FIFA 2022 world cup if the plight of those immigrant workers are not resolved by the Qatari government. International community should not allow Qatar to host the world cup unless it abolishes its controversial policy towards immigrants."
