SHELTON, CT — A motorcyclist was seriously injured Monday night after his bike collided with a car on Route 8 in Shelton, according to state police.

According to an accident summary provided by state police, a Naugatuck man on a Honda CBR900RR was riding behind a Toyota Rav4 Adventure near Exit 12 of Route 8 southbound when his bike collided with the back of the car.

As a result of the crash, the motorcyclist was thrown from his bike, according to state police. Both vehicles were damaged and towed from the area

The driver of the Rav4, a Bethlehem woman, was taken to Griffin Hospital with suspected minor injuries. The motorcyclist was taken to St. Vincent's Hospital with serious injuries by Echo Hose EMS, according to state police.
