Obituary: Antonio “Tony” Gómez, 81, of Shelton

Tony, a devoted family man and proud U.S Army veteran, worked for many years at Avco Lycoming/Textron before retiring from Allied Signal.

SHELTON, CT - (From Cody-White Funeral Home) Antonio “Tony” Gómez, age 81, of Shelton, beloved husband of Paula (Lutheran) Gómez, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2022 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on December 3, 1940 in Barre, Vermont to the late Hermogenes and Pilar (Teja) Gómez.

He grew up in Stratford and graduated from Stratford High School in 1960.

After graduation, Tony enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served for six years during the Vietnam Era.

He worked for many years at Avco Lycoming/Textron and retired from Allied Signal in 1995.

Tony’s greatest love was his family. He cherished each moment spent with them all.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Paula; his three daughters, Kathy (Carl) Winkler, Michele Gómez, and Barbara Fennell (Tom Edwards); four grandchildren, Nicole Pressley (Kevin Graham), Bobby (Brianna) Fennell, Kacey Rainone and Kari (Albert) Goble; five great-grandchildren, Amanda, Mason, Carson, Charlotte and Elizabeth and bonus grandchildren Erik, James, Jennifer, Christeen, Charlie, Lucy, Teddy, Kiki and CJ. Tony is also survived by many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.

In addition to his parents, Tony was predeceased by his brothers, Manuel, Tino, Victor and David; his sister, Dolly; his parents-in-law, Paul and Helen Lutheran; and brothers-in-law, Tommy and Joe.

Family and friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Friday, February 18, 2022 at Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street, Milford, CT.

A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:30 p.m. at St. Mary Church (Precious Blood Parish), 70 Gulf St, Milford, CT. Internment with full military honors will be at Riverside Cemetery, 308 River Road, Shelton, CT.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Shriners Children’s Hospital.
