Obituary: Dorothy “Dot” M. Gorup, 80, of Shelton
Dot cherished her adoring family, was a talented musician and enjoyed a long successful career as an area music teacher.

SHELTON, CT - (From Pistey Funeral Home) Dorothy “Dot” M. Gorup, 80, of Shelton entered into eternal rest on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at Griffin Hospital.
Born in Bridgeport to the late Stephen and Anna Martin, she had been a Shelton resident for 55 years.
She was a retired music teacher for most of her career in the Milford Public School system, and then later in the Trumbull and Stratford School systems.
She had been a Girl Scout and Brownie Leader.
She was a bass player and keyboard player for “The Country Rebels” band which played from Maine to Pennsylvania, and also the keyboard player and vocalist for “The Tumbleweeds” duo.
She was a member of the New Country Music Club of Uxbridge, MA.
She took great pride in her family and especially her seven grandchildren.
Dot is predeceased by her beloved husband Richard Gorup. She is survived by two daughters, Debra Brnetic of Shelton, and Janice Moscato and her husband Christopher of Shelton: seven grandchildren Celia and Stephen Brnetic, Christopher Jr., Joseph, Johnathan, Richard, and Lillian Moscato; one brother, Stephen Martin and his wife Carol of Shelton, and brother-in-law Robert Gorup of Shelton, as well as cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr.’s Chaissin and Stevack as well as the ICU, staff at Griffin hospital.
