Obituary: George Micklus, 69, Of Shelton

George C. Micklus Jr., 69, of Shelton, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 13, 2023 at the Connecticut Hospice after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. Born in Milford on December 18, 1953, he was the son of the late George C. Micklus Sr. and Frances (Fogler) Micklus. His kindness, humor, generosity will be greatly missed by all.

George had many passions including model railroading, trucks, jazz music, and playing the drums. He was recognized many times in Model Railroading Magazine for his expert painting of brass engines and railroad cars. His greatest joy came from his family spending as much time with him as possible.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 30 years, Denise Micklus; sister, Charlene Micklus; sons, Christopher (Amanda) Micklus and Jeffrey (Cindy) Micklus; step-sons, Gregg Fico and Gerald (Maya) Fico. His greatest joy and cherished grandchildren, Adrienne Micklus, Vanessa Micklus, Garrett Micklus, Mason Fico, and Sophia Fico.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Cody-White Funeral Home 107 Broad Street, Milford, CT 06460. A celebration of George’s life will take place at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. that morning. Burial will follow at Saint Mary Cemetery, Buckingham Ave., Milford.
