Obituary: Gerald Shearer, 83, Of Shelton

Gerald D. Shearer "Jerry" aged 83, of Shelton formally of Monroe passed away on Saturday October 7, 2017 at Masonicare at Newtown. Jerry was the loving husband of 61 years to Lynne I. Jagger Shearer. He was born in Bridgeport on November, 10, 1933 to the late Harry and Helen Wargo Shearer. Jerry was educated in the Bridgeport Public Schools and graduated from Bassick High school and Milford Academy and then attended Lehigh University. He was also a proud veteran of the United States Army.

Jerry will be lovingly remembered as a family man by his wife and their children; his son Doug and his wife Karen of Shelton, his daughter Laura Carpenter and her husband Kris of Monroe and his daughter Stephanie Shearer of Colorado. He was the proud grandfather and Papa to Douglas Michael Shearer, Lauren Shearer and Jenna Carpenter. He also leaves his sister Patricia Pavia of Arizona, his brother in law William Greensway of Naugatuck, his sister in law Barbara English of Stratford. Jerry was predeceased by his sister Nancy Rampino. He will be missed by his nieces and nephews and his Godsons Jerry Rampino and John Rampino.

Jerry also loved his church- St. Peter's Episcopal in Monroe where he was active for over 50 years and served in a variety of roles. Jerry was also a Mason and a member of the Washington Lodge #19. With a gifted voice Jerry was a member of the choir at St. Peters and the Coastal Chordsman, a barber shop quartet where he was the Tenor. Jerry was an expert fly fisherman and enjoyed hunting and camping. After 38 years he retired as a Sr. Vice President from the Fusco Corporation.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday October 11 at 10 AM at St Peters Episcopal Church, 175 Old Tannery Rd Monroe CT 06468.Burial with Military Honors will follow at Monroe Center Cemetery. Friends and family may visit at the Spadaccino & Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Tpke. Monroe CT 06468 on Tuesday from 4-7PM.
