Obituary: Rosemarie (Cosenza) Rossetti, 83, of Shelton

Rosemarie devoted her life to her family and students, serving many years as a kindergarten teacher and guidance counselor in Shelton.

SHELTON, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home) Rosemarie (Cosenza) Rossetti, 83, passed away peacefully at home on January 3, 2022. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles T. Rossetti.

She is survived by sons Thomas Rossetti (Mary), and Douglas Rossetti (Lynette), sister Linda Read (Bobby), sisters-in-law Peg Kosh (Bill) and Kris Cosenza, grandchildren, Nicholas, Alison (Dan), Samantha, Rachel (Luke) and Shealyn, and many dear cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

She was born in Brooklyn, NY, a daughter of Mary (Barberino) Cosenza and Vincent James Cosenza, she was predeceased by her parents and brother James Cosenza.

Rosemarie was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend. She earned her degree in teaching from Southern Connecticut State University.

A kindergarten teacher for most of her career, she also was a guidance counselor at Shelton High School, Shelton, CT where she and Charlie made their home and raised their family.

A lifelong learner, she enjoyed cooking and nutrition, teaching English as a second language, religious studies, travel, gardening and spending time with her family.

Her 4th of July picnics were a highlight of summer for the Rossetti family, and her trips to Italy were some of her fondest memories. She enjoyed her Mahjong games and the good friends who gathered to play.

She was a devoted member of Grace Church where she served as a lector, and prayer leader.
Rosemarie’s family would like to thank Maria Barberino whose care and kindness will always be remembered.

A graveside service will be held Thursday at 1pm at St. John Cemetery, Christian St., Wallingford. In lieu of flowers, please consider making someone smile by giving a book or flowers to someone in Rosemarie’s name.
