3rd Ward Alderman

What town do you live in?

Derby

Party Affiliation:

Republican

Occupation:

Registered Nurse. Certified Dementia Practitioner.

Family:

I'm the mom of 4 beautiful daughters, ages 32, 31, 30, and 21, and the proud grandmother of 2 very sweet girls, ages 7 and 8. I also care for my 81 -year-old dad, who lives with me. Additionally, I have my other "babies"- two devoted yellow labrador retrievers- and a bunny. I have numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles, all of which live in the valley. I understand the challenges facing families, seniors, and younger generations.

Does anyone in your family work in politics or government?

No.

Previous public office, appointive or elective:

Board of Apportionment and Taxation

Why are you seeking this office?

I'm running because Derby deserves strong, consistent, and present representation- leadership that listens and takes action to make our city safe, affordable, and thriving. I care deeply about this community and believe progress happens when leaders show up, listen, and work together to get things done.

The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ____, and this is what I intend to do about it:

Poor fiscal responsibility and high taxes. I will listen to residents, research every issue carefully and vote responsibly, making informed, thoughtful decisions that balance fiscal responsibility with the needs of our neighborhoods.

What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

I bring experience in budgeting and fiscally responsible decision-making, with a proven track record managing large funding programs where transparency and accountability are vital. I will show up, listen, and push for regular Aldermen meetings that don't get cancelled- because progress happens when work gets done. Whatever your party, I'll work for all residents, making informed thoughtful decisions to keep Derby safe, affordable, and thriving.

What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?

Public safety- our first responders are working with aging equipment that needs to be updated to ensure they can continue protecting our community safely and effectively. Limited economic development - Derby needs to attract and retain small businesses while supporting responsible growth that strengthens our tax base and revitalizes our downtown.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

I have served on the Board of Apportionment and Taxation and, since 2021, have been an active member of the Derby Republican Town Committee. With over 27 years of experience in clinical and administrative leadership roles. Through this work, I've developed strong skills in budgeting, oversite, and data driven decision- making. I understand how to manage resources responsibly and ensure accountability- skills that are essential for serving effectively as an alderman.

What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?

The best advice I ever received came from my mother, who passed away over 20 years ago. She encouraged me to pursue my education, reminding me that it's something no one can ever take away. I've carried that with me throughout my life. Another piece of advice that has always stayed with me came from a former supervisor who said, "I don't shine unless you shine." It taught me that true leadership means helping others succeed.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

I was born at Griffin Hospital and lived in Derby when I was younger. I returned nearly eight years ago and am proud to once again call this community my home. My family has deep roots here, and I'm an active part of our neighborhood- consistently present, listening, connecting, and caring deeply about our city's future. I'm committed to working with residents to move our city forward together.
