Why are you seeking this office?

I'm running to improve Shelton for all residents and visitors. I feel we need to bring transparency back to Shelton government. Also, we need our elected officials to be responsive to residents communications, instead of ignoring them.

The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ____, and this is what I intend to do about it:

The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is downtown parking, traffic and safety. I would like to explore more options for parking so people can easily patronize the wonderful downtown businesses. I would work with the state to improve the traffic flow. Also, I will work with our police department to improve public safety and also enforce the traffic laws.

What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

I am very responsive and care about my neighbors. People have complained to me that they have reached out several times to the elected officials with concerns about our town, but they are ignored and don't receive a response.

What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?

I would like to make sure our school system is properly funded to focus on our children, our future. I want our government to be transparent and not to hide anything from our residents.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

One of the original organizers of the Shelton Day street festival over 30 years ago that is still running today. Co-author of "A Pictorial History of Shelton". Chairman of the Shelton Bicentennial Committee in 1989. Started and ran several local businesses. I am part of the Shelton Clean Up Project. Past president of the Derby-Shelton Rotary Club.

What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?

Ignore negativity. If an idea comes up, investigate, just don't automatically say no. Also, "If you do nothing, Nothing will happen'".

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

If elected, I will strive to respond to resident's concerns and will work to make downtown and all of Shelton a better place.
