Ward 1 Board of Alderman
What town do you live in?
Shelton
Party Affiliation:
Democrat
Occupation:
I have been a corporate professional for 8 years.
Family:
I live in Shelton with my wife Madison and my cute dog Hazel.
Does anyone in your family work in politics or government?
No.
Previous public office, appointive or elective:
No I have not.
Why are you seeking this office?
I want to give Shelton democrats someone they can feel good about voting for who aligns with their values. I am also looking to bring more accountability to City Hall.
The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ____, and this is what I intend to do about it:
Infrastructure improvements. Ideally I think the city should be utilizing the help of a city planner to make sure our city can develop responsibly and fix some of the issues we have now.
What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
I think one thing that sets me apart is my age. Its rare to see younger people in politics and I think now more than ever is the time that we need fresh perspectives which I can provide.
What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?
I believe its also important for us to fully fund our public schools and set aside reserve funds for special education.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
In my professional work I have regularly had to review budgets, make personnel decisions, and work alongside unions. I believe all of these are vital skills someone needs to be successful in a position in local government.
What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
If you don't like what's being said, change the conversation.
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
I was never a particularly political person until recently. Sure you read the news and get frustrated at what is going on, but it wasn't until this past election that I felt compelled to do something. This feeling came over me that I couldn't live with myself if I did nothing as democracy was dismantled before my eyes. So I got involved, and raised my hand to run for election for the first time in my life. Knowing that the odds aren't great and it will be an uphill battle, but knowing all the same that it's worth doing because there are other people who are frustrated, both locally and nationally, and they deserve a democratic candidate they can be proud to vote for.
