Why are you seeking this office?

I am running for board of apportionment and taxation because I want to apply my background in accounting and finance to ensure that tax decisions are fair, accurate, and transparent. Our community deserves a tax system that is both responsible and accountable, and I believe my experience will allow me to make a meaningful contribution in guiding those decisions.

The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ____, and this is what I intend to do about it:

The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ensuring that our tax system is fair and equitable, so no one feels overburdened or overlooked. I intend to work toward greater transparency in assessments, clearer communication with taxpayers, and policies that balance the needs of our community with fairness for all residents.

What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

The major difference between me and the other candidates is my background in accounting and finance, which gives me the tools to carefully evaluate tax matters and ensure decisions are grounded in fairness and accuracy. I bring both professional expertise and a commitment to making the process transparent and accessible for taxpayers.

What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?

Beyond fairness in assessments, I intend to address issues such as improving communication with taxpayers, simplifying processes to reduce confusion, and making sure residents have easy access to clear information about their tax obligations.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

One accomplishment I would point to is earning my bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance, which gave me a strong foundation in financial management, analysis, and accountability. I am also currently pursuing my master’s degree in accounting, which demonstrates my commitment to continually deepening my knowledge. These achievements show that I have both the technical expertise and the dedication needed to handle the responsibilities of the tax board.

What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?

The best advice anyone ever gave me was to listen twice as much as you speak. I’ve found that listening first whether to colleagues, professors, or community members leads to better decisions and stronger trust. That’s exactly the approach I would bring to the tax board.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

I would like voters to know that I am committed to serving our community with fairness, integrity, and transparency. With my background in accounting and finance, and as I continue my master’s degree in accounting, I am prepared to bring both knowledge and dedication to the tax board. My priority is ensuring that every taxpayer is treated fairly and that decisions are made responsibly for the good of the community.
