I am currently the Alderwoman in the 3rd Ward of Derby.
Why are you seeking this office?
I was born and raised in Derby. My parents and grandparents lived in Derby and where I raised my children. I see Derby as a friendly town and has such potential. I want to be able to serve the community and to do what is best for Derby . I always think carefully before I vote on any item because it will effect Derby. I take my position very seriously and am proud to serve Derby.
The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ____, and this is what I intend to do about it:
Raising costs for all households. We look at contracts to try to reduce costs, get different bids and look at each individually.
What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
I have been serving the last 2 years as an alderwoman. I have attended the meetings and listened to the public and voted on items with careful consideration. I am dedicated to doing what is right for Derby.
What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?
I would like to see a light decrease which we have been doing. I would also like to welcome more businesses to Derby.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
I have been in healthcare for 35 yrs, I have been a manager for over 20 years and an adult educator for 15 years. I know contracts and know how to deal with people.
What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
A patient gave me a poem called "tyranny of the Urgent " by Charles E Hummel, 1967 and I try my best to remember the difference between the Urgent and the Important.
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
I am a hard-working mother grandmother, who wants to do the best for the city that I grew up in. For the city that my parents and grandparents lived in I live in Derby, I pay taxes and Derby, I love Derby and I'm proud to live here.
