Pedestrian Struck On Route 8 In Shelton: State Police

The pedestrian was transported to St. Vincent's Medical Center, according to state police.

SHELTON, CT — A pedestrian was struck on Route 8 in Shelton early Sunday and suffered life-threatening injuries, according to state police.

The accident happened around 5:27 a.m. Police said a Ford EcoSport operated by a 59-year-old Watertown man was traveling southbound in the left lane on the highway, south of the Exit 9 entrance ramp.

The vehicle then hit a pedestrian, a 40-year-old Seymour man, who was in the roadway for an “unknown reason,” state police said.

The pedestrian was transported by ambulance to St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport. Police described the man’s injuries as “life-threatening.”

The driver of the EcoSport was not injured. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
