Playa Bowls To Open New Location At Shelton Plaza

Playa Bowls, a chain specializing in acaí, pitaya and coconut bowls and signature smoothies, plans to open a new location in Shelton.

SHELTON, CT — Playa Bowls, a chain specializing in acaí, pitaya and coconut bowls and signature smoothies, plans to open a new location in Shelton later this year.

A Playa Bowls spokesperson recently confirmed to Patch plans to open a new store at 795 Bridgeport Avenue in the new Fountain Square plaza.

According to franchise owner Troy van Belle, the Shelton location will open sometime in mid-to-late summer.

"With the new plaza and high-quality neighboring companies," van Belle said, "we saw this space as a huge opportunity to bring vibrance and further elevate this area of 'the valley.' We love the idea of bringing a clean, tasty, good energy brand and offering to the community."

The new Shelton store will mark Playa Bowls' seventh store in Connecticut, joining locations in Avon, Darien, Fairfield, Glastonbury, Storrs and West Hartford.

Playa Bowls customers can choose from a large menu of signature bowls, including the 8th Avenue, the Nutella Bowl, the Mucho Mango, the Pink Flamingo and the Electric Mermaid.

Smoothie flavors include classics like Strawberry Banana and Matcha, as well as inventive combinations like the Dolce Latte Smoothie consisting of banana, peanut butter, chicory coffee concentrate, chocolate protein and coconut milk.

Playa Bowls also boats a signature line of cold brew coffees.

Once open, Playa Bowls will join a growing roster of businesses to recently open at the plaza.

Crumbl, a popular chain that serves up warm, freshly made cookies in an eye-catching pink package, opened its newest store at 785 Bridgeport Avenue in May.

Sandwich chain Jersey Mike's Subs also opened a new Shelton location at 795 Bridgeport Avenue back in March.
