Police End Burglary Spree in Shelton With Second Arrest [Update]

The following information comes from a press release by Lt. Robert Kozlowsky of the Shelton Police Dept. It does not indicate convictions.

Update 8:05 a.m.

On Monday, June 27,  Shelton Police arrested 44-year-old Collin McCarthy, of 10
Bridgeport Ave. in Shelton, as part of the ongoing investigation into daytime residential burglaries. McCarthy was charged with four counts of conspiracy to commit burglary third degree, three counts of conspiracy to commit larceny third degree, and one count of conspiracy to commit larceny fifth degree. McCarthy is being held on a $200,000 bond and will be arraigned at Derby Superior Court today.

On Friday, June 24, Detectives arrested 23-year-old Amber Belade of 395 Hawthorne Avenue, Derby. Belade was charged with four counts of third degree burglary, three counts of third degree larceny and one count of fifth degree larceny. Belade was held on a $200,000 bond and will be arraigned in Derby Superior Court on Monday, June 27.

The arrest is part of an ongoing investigation into a string of recent daytime residential burglaries which occurred throughout the city in April and May 2011. Detectives developed Belade and a male as suspect in the burglaries and applied for four search warrants for locations in Shelton and Derby. Police located hundreds of pieces of stolen jewelry during the searches. Shelton Police are currently working with Derby, Stratford and Bridgeport Police in this ongoing investigation. Police are still attempting to identify the owners of some of the recovered jewelry. Police have an arrest warrant for the male as well.
