Police shared the following tips to help families stay safe during their Halloween festivities:

  1. Plan a route. Stick to familiar areas that are well lit.
  2. Stay in groups. Children should trick-or-treat in groups, not alone.
  3. Dress right. Avoid costumes that may block vision.
  4. Wait to eat. Remind children to wait until home to eat candy.
  5. Use flashlights or glow sticks. Make your kid visible in the dark.

"Let's make it a Halloween to remember…for the right reasons," police said. "Stay safe, Shelton, and keep it spooky!"
