Popular Pizzeria Confirms Plans To Open New Location In Shelton

Once open, the new Shelton restaurant will mark the pizzeria's fifth location in Connecticut and 10th overall.

SHELTON, CT — Weeks after plans were first submitted to open a new Colony Grill restaurant in the city, the popular pizzeria chain officially confirmed Monday a fifth Connecticut restaurant is in the works for Shelton.

Set to be located at 902 Bridgeport Avenue at Regency Center's Shelton Square, the planned project will feature a family-friendly dining room, expansive bar and welcoming outdoor patio, creating a destination for guests of all ages in the heart of Shelton, according to a news release provided by Colony.

"We've wanted to be here for a long time, and we're excited to finally join the Shelton community," Colony Grill CEO Paul Coniglio said in a news release. "Shelton has a unique energy, and we look forward to providing a place where families, friends and colleagues can come together to enjoy a simple meal and connect, reminisce, celebrate and spend quality time over a bar pizza and a cold beverage."

According to the pizzeria, the new Shelton location will feature late hours, spacious seating for large groups and convenient takeout and delivery through Uber Eats, Grub Hub and DoorDash to accommodate a variety of guest needs.

"Regency is thrilled to welcome Colony Grill to Shelton Square," Regency Centers Spokesperson Trish Freeman said in a news release. "Their iconic pizza and inviting, community-focused atmosphere are a perfect complement to the mix of retailers at Shelton Square. We're confident they'll quickly become a beloved destination for the Shelton community."

The planned new restaurant would mark Colony's fifth location in Connecticut and 10th overall.

The iconic pizzeria, famous for its hot oil bar-style pizzas, currently operates locations in Stamford, Norwalk, Fairfield and Milford, as well as restaurants in New York, Florida, Virginia and Maryland.

The ultra-thin crust pizza was first served at the chain's Stamford restaurant when it opened in 1935.

An official opening date for the planned Shelton restaurant will be announced at a later date, according to Colony.
