School Custodian From Derby Charged with Child Pornography: Report

A lengthy investigation led to the arrest of a longtime Easton elementary school custodian.

EASTON, CT — A longtime school custodian at Samuel Staples Elementary School was arrested on child pornography charges, reports the Easton Courier. David Habetz, 49, of Derby was arrested on June 22 after a lengthy investigation by Easton and Derby police.

Habetz was fired by Superintendent Thomas McMorran after school officials learned of the investigation in march. Police say school officials cooperated fully and supplied all required information.

Parents were notified on July 7 about the arrest.
