Michael Andrew Mando, 22, of Falmouth Drive, is charged with second-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit second-degree larceny.
Police said Mando stole a handbag containing $10,000 in jewelry from an unlocked car in addition to checks, on Oct.5.
The purse was valued at $2,000, police said.
His bond was set at $500 for an appearance in Derby Superior Court.
