Shelton-Derby Election Results: Projected Winners In Key Races
Projected winners have been announced in a number of key races in both Shelton and Derby, according to unofficial results.

SHELTON-DERBY, CT — Projected winners have been announced in a number of key races in both Shelton and Derby hours after the polls closed on Election Night.
In Derby, Connecticut Democrats declared candidate Joseph DiMartino the winner in the city's mayoral race, according to unofficial results.
"Derby has flipped to a new mayor, Joe DiMartino! A big win for Valley Dems and for democracy," Connecticut Dems wrote on X.

DiMartino ran against Republican candidate Gino DiGiovanni Jr. and petitioning candidates Richard Dziekan and Sharlene McEvoy.
Unofficial results provided by the Connecticut Secretary of State had DiMartino at 1,263 votes, Dziekan at 727, DiGiovanni at 656 and McEvoy at 250.

DiGiovanni Jr. turned himself in at a New Haven federal court back in August to face charges related to his presence inside the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

In Shelton, the Connecticut Republican Party has declared Mark Lauretti the winner in the city's mayoral race, securing his 17th term as the city's mayor, according to unofficial results.
"Congratulations to Republican Mark Lauretti on re-election as the mayor of Shelton," CTGOP wrote on X.
Lauretti ran against Democratic candidate David Eldridge, who conceded Tuesday night as absentee ballots were still being counted, according to the Shelton Herald.
On his campaign's Facebook page, Eldridge thanked his supporters and said he was proud despite the unfavorable results.
"While the results were not in our favor, we did gain on votes from two years ago," Eldridge said on Facebook. "I'm proud of the campaign we ran and I plan to stay active and always put service over self. Thank you for your support and all who helped me run this great campaign."
A number of projected winners were also announced in other key races in both Derby and Shelton, according to unofficial vote totals provided by the city of Derby and the Connecticut Secretary of State's website.
In Derby, Democrat Maria Conlon was projected to win out over Republican Heidi DiGiovanni in the race for treasurer. According to unofficial results, Conlon received 1,768 votes while DiGiovanni received 865 votes.
For Constable, Democratic candidate "Owney" Malerba Jr. is projected to have received 1,440 votes while Republican candidate Carl Malerba Sr. received 1,123 votes, according to unofficial results.
In all three wards for the Board of Aldermen and Alderwomen, the three Democratic candidates are the projected winners, according to unofficial results.
In Ward 1, the projected winners are Amy Pettinicchi (296 votes), Sarah Widomski (310) and Arthur Newberg (289). Of the Republican candidates, Sam Pollastro received 248 votes, Rich DiCarlo received 280 and Judy Szewczyk received 256, according to unofficial results provided by the city.
In Ward 2, the projected winners are George Kurtyka (419 votes), Ronald Sill (479) and Jessica Barrios-Perez (423). Of the Republican candidates, Julian Campoli received 356 votes, Anthony Mullin received 282 and Nick DiGiovanni received 292, according to unofficial results.
In Ward 3, the projected winners are David Chevarella (746 votes), Robert Hyder (658) and Robin Falcioni-Smith (629). Of the Republican candidates, Michael Alberta received 512 votes, Matthew Beck received 538 and Ann Kimball received 556, according to unofficial results.
For the Board of Apportionment and Taxation, the projected Democratic winners are Tina Parelli-Silkoff, Jennifer Desroches, Colleen Germain-Ezzo, Kristen Mancini-Wright, Michael Gray and Bhamini Patel, and the projected Republican winners are Jose Rivera, Isa Simmons-Derby, Laura Wabno and Ashley Simon, according to unofficial results.
For the Board of Education, the projected Democratic winners are Kenneth Marcucio Sr., Daniel Foley Jr., Jim Gildea, Kimberly Tovar, Jennifer Lewis-Caruso and Melissa Mongillo, and the projected Republican winners are Karla Malerba, Laura Harris and Rebecca O'Hara, according to unofficial results.
In Shelton, Republican Raymond O'Leary ran unopposed for city treasurer. He received 8,181 votes, according to unofficial results.
For the Board of Education, the nine highest vote-getters were Democrats Kate Kutash (6,136 votes), Joan Littlefield (5,539), Patricia Moonan (5,614) and Lorraine Rossner (5,721) and Republicans Jim Orazietti (6,687), Jason Neves (5,521), Sharon Herman (5,433), Anthony Smeraglino (5,967) and Amy Romano (6,357), according to unofficial results.
For the Board of Apportionment and Taxation, Republican candidates John Belden Jr. (7,691 votes), Joanna Carloni (7,155) and John Boyko (6,961) each received more votes than Democratic candidates Joseph Knapik (5,317), Greta Jacobsen (5,388) and Wayne Bragg (5,350).
Board of Aldermen Ward 1
Democrats Nathan Diur and Frank Donato totaled 1,110 and 1,222 respectively, while Republicans Porter McKinnon and Anthony Simonetti received 1,637 and 1,758 votes respectively, according to unofficial results.
Board of Aldermen Ward 2
Democrat Kevin Kosty received 1,333 votes and Democrat Bryan Lizotte totaled 1,342 votes. Republican Eric McPherson totaled 1,395 votes and Benjamin Perry Jr. received 1,348 votes, according to unofficial results.
Board of Aldermen Ward 3
Democrats Steven Guralnick and Jose Goncalves received 1,280 and 1,327 votes respectively, whiled Republicans John Anglace Jr. and Cris Balamaci received 1,696 and 1,627 respectively, according to unofficial results.
Board of Aldermen Ward 4
Democrat Mandy Kilmartin received 1,220 votes and Democrat Ludwig Spinelli received 1,142 votes. Republican Lorenzo Durante received 1,763 votes and Bernard Simons Jr. received 1,744 votes, according to unofficial results.
Planning and Zoning Commission
Republicans Virginia Harger (6,401 votes) and Charles Kelly III (6,343) received more votes than Democrats Elaine Matto (5,627), Thomas Harbinson (4,934) and Nancy Dickal (4,937), according to unofficial results.
For alternates, Republican Robert Cristiano (6,996 votes) received more votes than Democrat Matt McGee (6,020), according to unofficial results.
Library Board of Directors
Republican James Geissler (7,370) totaled more votes than Democrat David Gioiello Jr. (5,848).
Ballot Question
Additionally, Shelton residents voted "yes" or "no" on the following question: "Shall the Charter of the City of Shelton be revised in accordance with the report and recommendations of the Charter Revision Commission?"
