After arriving Sunday morning in Moore, Okla., two Echo Hose Ambulance EMTs delivered their fully stocked U-Haul trailer to emergency service officials there.
"It was a long trip but it has opened my eyes. I've never seen such destruction in my life, but this community has already cleaned up and began rebuilding. Everyone was so helpful and compassionate," said Shelton EMT Jeff Caporaso, who organized a drive to collect the supplies.
He drove with fellow EMT Tim Greer.
"We left Echo Hose Ambulance Corps. at 7 p.m. Friday and arrived in Sallisaw, Okla., around 7:30 p.m. Saturday and spent the night at Tim's relatives house," Caporaso said.
"Sunday morning we arrived to Moore FD headquarters in Moore, Okla., and met up with Major Wayne Hamett and his wife Jennifer, who is an area paramedic and RN who has been my major contact and liaison," the EMT said.
"We couldn't have done this without her," Caporaso said.
Hamett introduced the Shelton EMTs to JenaLu, paramedic supervisor at Sugar Creek EMS in Hinton, Okla., outside of El Reno, he added.
